Noor murder: Suspect’s parents challenge bail petitions’ rejection in SC

ISLAMABAD: Parents of the prime suspect in the murder of former ambassador’s daughter Wednesday challenged in the Supreme Court the rejection of their bail applications by the Islamabad High Court.

Noor Mukadam, 27, was found murdered at the residence of one Zahir Zakir in Sector F-7/4 of Islamabad in July. Zakir, widely believed to be the killer, was arrested the same day for his purported involvement in the gruesome incident.

A first information report registered on the complaint of Ambassador Shaukat Ali Mukadam, Mukadam’s father, nominated Zakir under Section 302 (premeditated murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Zakir Jaffer and Asmat Adamjee, who were arrested days later on charges of abetting the murder, filed the petition through their counsel Khawaja Haris Ahmed.

In August, the police had disclosed the DNA test and fingerprints of the accused showed his involvement in the murder.

They said that photogrammetry tests conducted on a video in which Mukadam was seen making efforts to save her life and being chased by the accused confirmed that it was genuine.

The footage had been sent to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency in Lahore to confirm its authenticity.
