Karachi police arrest two most-wanted suspects

The Karachi police on Monday arrested two suspects near Paposh Nagar graveyard on charges of renting weapons from the City Courts’ malkhana to commit crimes, a news outlet reported.

According to the report, the police conducted a raid near the graveyard, arrested the “most-wanted” suspects, identified as Shaharyar alias Masoom Bengali and Saeed, and recovered weapons from their custody.

The SSP Central said that the suspects made startling disclosures during interrogation, adding that the suspects told the police they had been getting weapons from the malkhana on rent in the past as well, and a man, named Khalil, used to provide them weapons for a limited period in return for Rs8,000 per weapon.

The SSP said that “Khalil also accompanied them during robberies”, adding that if they ever got arrested, Khalil would visit the police station where they were being held, presenting himself as their lawyer and arranging “deals” for their release.

Further investigation into the matter are underway, the SSP further said.
