1 killed, 7 injured in explosion near Quetta varsity

QUETTA: At least one policeman was killed and 7 others injured after a blast took place near Balochistan University at Quetta’s Saryab Road Monday.

The explosion took place near a police mobile. Balochistan government spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani said the mobile deputed outside the university gate was targeted.

An explosive device was planted in a motorcycle, he said. He added that those responsible for the blast will be arrested and brought to justice.

Injured people were shifted to the Civil Hospital and Bolan Medical Complex Hospital.

The nature of the blast is still unascertained but police and counter-terrorism department (CTD) officials have arrived at the scene.
