Petition of suspect in Noor murder dismissed

ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court in Islamabad dismissed a private complaint filed by an employee of the Therapy Works organisation seeking legal action against Investigation Officer Abdul Sattar and prime suspect Zahir Zakir in the murder of Noor Mukadam.

Mukadam, 27, was found murdered at the residence of Zakir in Sector F-7/4 of Islamabad in July. Zakir, widely believed to be the killer, was arrested the same day for his purported involvement in the gruesome incident.

A first information report registered on the complaint of Ambassador Shaukat Ali Mukadam, Mukadam’s father, nominated Zakir under Section 302 (premeditated murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Amjad, the complainant, alleged Haq declared the Therapy Works staffers as suspects instead of witnesses to benefit Zakir. He contended the officer did not collect his blood-stained clothes or the medical certificate.

He maintained staffers of the firm took him to the hospital after Zakir attacked him on the fateful day, and informed the Kohsar police in Islamabad.

Additional Sessions Judge Atta Rabbani, after listening to arguments from the suspect’s counsel, decided to dispose of the petition.

The murder case is fixed for hearing on November 24 when more prosecution witnesses would record their statements.
