Fazl says one person’s opinion on National Security is not enough

Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) President Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Saturday said that one person’s opinion on national matters is not enough, according to Geo News.

While addressing an event, Fazl, who is also the chief of JUI-F, said that “the National Security Policy is being formulated but the parliament is unaware about it”.

He criticised the government for green-lighting the security policy “without any consultations” and said his party has a massive following.

“Politics is the only path to power….The ulema have to unite for the benefit of the people,” he said.

A day earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan had launched the public version of Pakistan’s first-ever citizen-centric National Security Policy, saying that an inclusive development is inevitable for national security.

The policy was approved by the federal cabinet on December 28 after getting nod of the National Security Committee.

Addressing the launching ceremony of the public version of the otherwise secret document, the prime minister had said: “Inclusive growth means not only to uplift the poor people but also the neglected areas… (In such case) every common man becomes a stakeholder to protect the state… The biggest security is when people stand behind state for its protection.”
