ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has earned US $1,051.050 million by providing different information technology (IT) services to various countries during the first five months of financial year 2021-22
Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported that this shows growth of 37.55 percent as compared to the corresponding period of fiscal year 2020-21,
Among these services, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics said, the export of computer services grew by 39.39 percent as these surged from US $593.170 million last fiscal year to US $826.800 million this year.
Among the computer services, the exports of software consultancy services witnessed increase of 47.92 percent, from US $200.272 million to US $296.246 million while the exports of hardware consultancy services also roInforse by 256.52 percent from, US $0.276 million to US $0.984 million, it added.
In addition, the exports of other computer services increased by 26.88 percent going up from US$ 249.881 million to US $317.056 million.
The country’s exports have witnessed a considerable surge of 29.48 per cent in the first half (July-December) of the current fiscal year, as compared to the corresponding period of last year, PBS said.
The exports during July-December (2021-22) were recorded at Rs2,562,063 million as against the exports of Rs1,978,753 million during July- December 2020-21. Meanwhile, on a year-on-year basis, the exports from the country increased by 29.34% in December 2021 as compared to the exports of December, 2020. The exports during December, 2021 amounted to Rs489,918 million against the exports of Rs378,776 million during December 2020.
On a month-on-month basis, the exports however declined by 2.41 percent as compared to the exports of Rs502,009 million in November 2021. Main commodities of exports during December 2021 were knitwear (Rs77,961 million), readymade garments (Rs61,411 million), bedwear (Rs44,905 million), rice others (Rs33,868 million), cotton cloth (Rs33,502 million), cotton yarn (Rs18,874 million), towels (Rs16,867 million), fruits (Rs12,376 million), made-up articles (excl. towels & bedwear) (Rs12,272 million) and fish & fish Preparations (Rs9,050 million).
