Xi Jinping chairs CPC leadership meeting to review report, regulations

The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee held a meeting Monday to review multiple reports.

The meeting was chaired by Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee.

The meeting reviewed a comprehensive report concerning the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau hearing and studying the work reports of the leading Party members groups of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People’s Court, and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, as well as the work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.

The regulations on the handling of petition letters and visits were also reviewed.

The Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee hailed the work of the leading Party members groups and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee in 2021, and approved their work plan for 2022.

Their efforts have led to a good start of the 14th Five-Year Plan period and created a favorable environment for celebrating the centenary of the founding of the CPC, said a statement of the meeting.

Noting that 2022 is an important year for China toward the second centenary goal of fully building a modern socialist country, the statement said that the NPC, the State Council, the National Committee of the CPPCC, the Supreme People’s Court, and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate should make efforts in preparing the 20th CPC National Congress, and promoting full and strict Party governance.

On the petition work, the statement highlighted the importance of the letters and visits from the public in understanding social conditions and stressed continuous improvement of the petition system.
