Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the industrial sector has resumed progressing due to government’s successful policies.
Chairing a meeting on Friday to review progress of ongoing development projects in Faisalabad, the prime minister directed completion of all development projects within a given time frame. He said that public welfare projects should be completed on priority basis.
He said the government is taking all possible steps to attract investors towards industrial manufacturing in the country. He said Punjab is a very attractive province for the foreign investors especially for Chinese investors who are desirous of shifting their industrial units to Pakistan.
The prime minister directed the relevant officials to ensure a business friendly environment for the investors.
These measures include provision of land on easy instalments to decrease the cost of initial investment of businessmen and availability of plug and play model for early start of their business operations.
The prime minister stressed that effective rules and regulations should be formed to discourage conversion of industrial estate into real estate ventures because when the investor would have to pay a heavy cost for acquiring land to start a business project, it would make the investment not attractive and he would abandon the decision to make investment.
He instructed the relevant officials to reorganise the board of directors of Punjab Industrial Estate Development and Management Company and Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company on very professional lines so that those directors can be appointed who have no personal interest in the special economic zones.
He said that foreign investments will boost after establishment of the special economic zone in Faisalabad. He said the government is providing health insurance worth over Rs400 billion for all families in the province through health cards.
During the meeting, the prime minister was told that construction work of important highways and link roads is in progress in Faisalabad. The meeting also discussed proposed public transport, IT university and city beautification projects for Faisalabad.
Federal ministers Shafqat Mehmood, Fawad Chaudhry and Asad Umar, Advisor to the PM on Trade Abdul Razak Dawood, Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar, Punjab Minister for Industries Mian Aslam Iqbal, and others attended the meeting while Special Assistant to the PM for CPEC Khalid Mansoor participated through a video link.
