LAHORE: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Punjab on Thursday arrested a stamp vendor purportedly involved in forgery to sell a prime property in a Karachi neighbourhood owned by a local church.
The plot located at Fatima Jinnah Road in Karachi is the property of the Diocese of Lahore, Church of Pakistan.
The ACE arrested Waheed Ahmed of Lahore who purportedly prepared a fake power of attorney in the name of one Zafar Iqbal.
He somehow managed to get the property transferred in Iqbal’s name, Punjab ACE Director General Gohar Nafees said.
The ACE is also inquiring into Ahmed’s involvement in the preparation of forged documents in other cases, the official added.
Iqbal concluded a lease agreement of the land with one Afzal Qaimkhani in 2019, the official said.
