Maryam Nawaz to lead PML-N caravan towards Islamabad

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz has decided to resume her political activities.

She would resume her political activities from Swat as she would visit the area to address a public gathering on March 22. “The PML-N public gathering will determine a new political way ahead in the province,” PML-N MPA Ikhtiar Wali said.

Moreover, the party announced that Maryam alongside Hamza Shehbaz would lead a PML-N procession from Lahore on March 24 to reach Islamabad by March 27 for the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) rally.

The decision from Maryam to resume her political activities came in the backdrop of a directive from the PML-N leadership, asking the party workers to start preparations for the long march towards Islamabad.

The decision regarding preparations for the long march was taken in a meeting chaired by PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad. The meeting was virtually attended by the senior party leaders.

Through the directive, the provincial, divisional and district office-bearers of the party were issued guidelines to ensure participation of the workers.

Earlier, PDM head Maulana Fazlur Rehman had asked the convoys of the opposition’s long march to enter Islamabad on March 25 due to the upcoming session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers from March 22 to 23.

Fazl, while addressing a press conference after a meeting of the opposition leaders, had said that the convoys will depart for Islamabad on March 23.

“The marchers will enter Islamabad on March 25. The participants of the OIC CFMs are our respectable guests, hence, no difficulty should be created for them. The workers should avoid entering Islamabad on March 23.”
