Babar Azam surpasses Virat Kohli as fastest Asian to score 4000 runs

Pakistan captain Babar Azam has surpassed India’s Virat Kohli to become the fastest Asian batter to score 4000 ODI runs.

The 27-year-old batter achieved the milestone during the first ODI against Australia at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

He took 82 innings to reach the feat, only one more inning than South Africa’s  Hashim Amla, who holds the record by reaching the landmark in 81 innings.

The right-handed batter is also the first Pakistani to complete 4,000 ODI runs in less than 100 innings. Previously, Mohammad Yousuf took 110 innings to achieve the feat.

The Pakistani cricketer took only 14 innings to score 3,000s to 4,000s runs. The only player who took fewer innings than Babar to jump from 3-4K runs was David Warner (12 innings).

Overall, Babar Azam is the 15th player from Pakistan to score 4,000 runs in ODIs.
