ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday reiterated to further strengthen the fraternal ties between Pakistan and Qatar.
The prime minister was reciprocating a felicitation message from Prime Minister Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani of Qatar who congratulated him on taking oath of the office of the prime minister, Sharif’s office said in a press statement.
The prime minister said the two countries enjoyed closer ties based on deep and historic friendship, trust and cooperation, adding such a friendship had been a precious asset for them.
IMMEDIATE COMPLETION OF FLYOVER
Meanwhile, Sharif also directed for early completion of the Rawal Dam Chowk flyover without compromising over its quality of work.
Accompanied by concerned authorities, he reached the construction site where he was given a briefing.
He ordered the completion of the project by September and observed that the project was almost stalled for months and ordered an inquiry.
He also directed for audit of the project by a third party.
Sharif, on the occasion, said that public interest projects should be completed within a stipulated period of time.
A project like this should be completed within six months, he said, adding the delay in its construction was adding to public woes.
The prime minister expressed his dissatisfaction over the slow pace of work, saying that lethargy and complacency were the apparent reasons behind the delayed project.
He said that even mega projects in the country had been accomplished within a period of two years, but why this minor project was hitting the snags!
Sharif said it was the central neighbourhood and the closure of work on the project had been causing a public nuisance.
The project was initiated in 2020 and its completion period was two years.
