The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government on Tuesday decided to launch Insaf Food Card program and stopped the Benazir Income Support (BISP) amid the ongoing political confrontation between the provincial and federal government.
The provincial cabinet approved the “Insaf Food Card” under which each deserving family will be provided Rs2100 per monthly. After Health Card, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the only province which has also taken initiative of Insaf Food Card with the aim to provide relief to the masses against the soaring inflation. The provincial government has allocated Rs 26 billion for the program in the form of subsidy.
The data of ‘Ehssas program’ will be used to select the beneficiaries for the proposed scheme. For the issuance of the Insaf Food card, an ATM style card will be issued by signing an agreement with Bank of Khyber. The officials hoped that program will be implemented from July 2022.
Addressing a news confidence after the cabinet meeting, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif said that the Cabinet also approved to increase the procurement and storage volume of wheat from 1.2 million metric tonnes to 1.4 million metric tonnes for 2022-23 to ensure the steady supply of the grain to flour mills. Saif furthered that this year wheat supply  mills will also continue in May, June and July to avoid any flour shortage in the market.
The KP cabinet also approved solarisation of 7,000 mosques – 5,000 in settled while 2,000 mosques merged districts – in the province. The provincial cabinet also approved the draft law 2022 for regularisation of employment of employees of KP Settlement Operations and Revenue Academy.
The cabinet also allowed the appointment of Motahir Zeb as Commissioner Hazara Division. The cabinet also approved to extend the project for the rehabilitation of displaced families of the tribal districts. Under the project, construction of roads, bridges, Â schools, Â laboratories in schools, establishment of medical centers, improvement of medical equipment and facilities will be completed.
The Cabinet has approved the appointment of Abdul Wali Khan and Dr. Samira Taj on the vacant posts of members of the KP Textbook Board as Member Editorial and Production and Member Sales and Production respectively.
