Long queues at petrol pumps due to expected hike in petrol prices

ISLAMABAD: People thronged at fuel stations in panic after Finance Minister Miftah Ismail hinted at another fuel price hike earlier in the day.

As per details, a large number of people rushed to various fuel stations in major cities to get the fuel tanks filled as panic created after media reports of another hike in fuel prices.

Large queues were seen at the petrol pumps and people were desperate to get the fuel before an expected hike.

People were seen lined up at petrol filling stations across several cities — including Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Karachi — to get the essential commodity at a cheaper rate as they feared that they would get petrol at a costly rate after the hike.

The recent hike in fuel prices has created problems for the masses who are already facing a crunch economic situation.

A representative of the petrol pump association told media that the supply has been stopped and tankers have lined up outside oil depots for refilling.

The official asked the OMCs to restart the supply of petroleum products as if the reserves of the petrol pumps run out, then businesses will be severely affected.

“We are in talks with oil supply companies regarding the matter,” he added.

Meanwhile, Chairman Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) Abdul Sami Khan told that the reserves of the pumps are running shortly after “Finance Minister Miftah Ismail announced another probable hike in petrol prices”.

He maintained that the supply to the petrol pumps had not stopped yet, but due to the rush at the filling stations, their reserves might be exhausted soon.
