LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Rao Sardar Ali Khan has issued instructions to Rawalpindi police to remain alert in view of flood threat in Nala Lai due to continuous rains in twin cities.
The IG Police directed that special teams should be formed to provide timely assistance to citizens and protect their lives and property during monsoon season, adding additional teams should also be kept ready for the protection of precious human lives in any emergency.
Punjab IG Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan issued the instructions to RPO Rawalpindi, CPO, DPOs of Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal during a meeting at RPO office during his visit to Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
Rao Sardar Ali said that Rawalpindi police would provide all possible assistance to the district administration and rescue agencies in relief work. The IGP said that special arrangements should be made to keep traffic flow moving during rains, adding traffic police high-ups should ensure smooth flow of traffic by conducting field visits during rains. He said that concrete steps should be taken for security of Eid congregations in all districts of Rawalpindi region on the occasion of Eidul Azha, adding all resources should be utilized for the security of mosques, Imambargahs and open spaces. Rao Sardar Ali said that an effective system should be set up to maintain traffic on the eve of Eidul Azha and patrolling around cattle markets. He directed that additional teams should be deployed on highways for the protection of traders and passengers.
The IGP said that Murree Tourism Police should be made more active and special measures should be taken to guide tourists during Eid holidays besides maintaining traffic flow. He directed that the Murree Tourism Police and Traffic Police should work out a special plan for the convenience, assistance and protection of citizens during the Eid holidays and weekends. The IG Police directed that intelligence-based operations should be carried out in Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum to root out criminals and ensure that supervisory officers take steps under personal supervision to prevent serious crimes and bring the accused to justice. He directed that capacity building courses should be conducted to enhance investigative capabilities of the investigation officers. The meeting was attended by RPO Rawalpindi Imran Ahmar, CPO Rawalpindi Syed Shehzad Nadeem Bukhari, DPO Attock, DPO Chakwal, DPO Jhelum and Officers of Special Branch, CTD and Traffic Police.
