LAHORE: Former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday tasked party organisations with preparing lists of aspiring candidates for the next general elections.
Imran Khan directed party Secretary General Asad Umar to shortlist candidates with the consultation of the party organisations.
The process to shortlist candidates in central Punjab has begun and Asad Umar presented a list to the party chairman during the meeting.
Commenting on the development, former finance minister and PTI Central Punjab leader Hammad Azhar said that they have begun preparations for the general elections prior to its announcement.
“The final decision of the candidates will be made by Imran Khan and PTI’s parliamentary board,” he pointed out, adding that the party organisations have been directed to shortlist the candidates.

Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf(PTI) supremo Imran Khan on Wednesday said that the PTI will help the flood-hit people in every possible way. “Once the relief phase is over, the PTI will start building houses for the affectees”, Imran Khan said while addressing flood victims during his visit to Taunsa Sharif here on Wednesday. The former PM said that he inspected the flood-affected areas from the helicopter, adding that Pakistan had suffered more damage than in 2010, and the whole nation will have to come together and help the flood victims.
The PTI chairman further said that he collected Rs10 billion during the 5 hours of the telethon, adding that the nation has never given so much money in such a short time because the whole nation is worried about the flood victims.
Imran Khan also directed Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi to award district status to Taunsa.
