Welfare of policemen top priority: IGP

LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General of Police Faisal Shahkar has said that the Central Police Office is the provincial headquarters of Punjab Police and it will be equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to improve working standards.

He said that special attention should be given to refresher courses and acquisition of new skills to increase efficiency of the staff and lift standards of professional affairs.

Punjab IG Police Faisal Shahkar expressed the views when talking to the officers during surprise visit to various branches in Central Police Office here on Friday.

The IGP directed that every request received at 1787 IGP Complaint Centre should be resolved immediately and all possible relief should be provided to citizens while the complaints of the citizens coming through the Punjab Police WhatsApp service should also be dealt with immediately as per SOPs.

He said that no application should be closed to the office without satisfaction of citizens and the AIG complainants should ensure that the problems of the citizens coming to open court are resolved under personal supervision. The IGP directed to create a digital archive of all the documents and file records of the Punjab Police. He directed that along with disposing of unnecessary records, the necessary documents and files should be stored in digital form.

The IGP inspected the branches located on different floors and inquired about the working of the staff.

Additional IG Welfare and Finance briefed IG Punjab about the affairs of Welfare Branch while AIG Development briefed IG Punjab about the development works on different floors. IG Punjab asked the problems while talking to the staff and directed the officers to take more measures for welfare and said that the upgradation work of the Central Police Office should be completed as soon as possible according to the modern standard. The IGP also inspected other sections including complex and Turkish Block. Additional IG Welfare, Additional IGP PHP, DIG Headquarters, DIG R&D and other officers were also present on the occasion.
