Ayaz Amir remanded in custody in daughter-in-law murder case

ISLAMABAD: A local court in Islamabad remanded senior journalist Ayaz Amir in police custody for one day in connection with the murder of his daughter-in-law by his son Shahnawaz Amir.

The sessions court on Sunday granted one-day physical remand of Ayaz Amir, father of Shahnawaz Amir who had brutally murdered his wife Sara Inam with a dumbbell the other day.

Earlier, journalist Ayaz Amir was produced by police before the court of a magistrate in F-8 Kutchery, Islamabad. The Investigative officer and concerned deputy superintendent officer were also present in the court.

Ayaz Amir had been detained by police for investigation into the murder of his daughter-in-law Sara by her husband Shahnawaz Amir.

Moreover, the father of Sara will also arrive in Pakistan tonight from Canada.

It is learnt that Shahnawaz and Sara got married on July 18 last. Both had studied together in school. A few months ago, they became friends on social media again.

It has also been learnt that Shahnawaz owned no business, nor did he have any job. He lived on the rent of shops that he had inherited from his father.

Shahnawaz’s first wife, Fatima, had left him after a few days of marriage, whereas, his second wife had left him after six months of marriage. Sara was his third wife.

After the separation between his father and mother, Shahnawaz had left his education incomplete for continuously failing in the A-levels.

Sara’s family had recently learned about her marriage with Shahnawaz. Discussion for a formal marriage ceremony and departure of the bride was underway between the two families.

The body of Sara will be kept in the morgue of the Polyclinic Hospital till her burial.

The Shahzad Town Police had arrested Ayaz Amir in connection with the murder of his daughter-in-law on Saturday night.

According to sources, Section 109 has been added to the case now along with 302 to investigation Ayaz Amir and his wife.
