Court testifies two witnesses; puts off Rawalpindi Ring Road scam till Oct 6

LAHORE: An Anti-Corruption Court on Wednesday recorded statements of two witnesses and adjourned the hearing in Rawalpindi Ring Road scam till October 6.

Anti-Corruption Court Judge Mushtaq Elahi conducted proceedings of the case and directed the two witnesses – former Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) director Ammara Khan and director contracts Ilyas Khan to appear for cross=examination on next hearing on Oct 6.

Former Rawalpindi commissioner (r) Capt Muhammad Mahmood and two other accused appeared in the court and marked their attendance.

During hearing, the two witnesses –Ammara Khan and Ilyas Khan recorded their statements in the presence of defence counsel.

The court had indicted the former commission and two others in the ring road scam. The Punjab ACE had registered a case against the accused for their alleged involvement in the Ring Road scam after a detailed inquiry.

It was alleged that the accused were guilty of corruption and misuse of authority. They illegally changed design of the project to add new interchanges and increased length of the road from 22km to 68km.
