Buzdar’s principal secretary gets clean chit in graft probe

LAHORE: The Vigilance Wing of Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Thursday dropped corruption inquiry against Tahir Khurshid alias “TK”, principal secretary to former chief minister Sardar Usman Buzdar.

ACE sources said that Tahir Khurshid who was facing the corruption inquiry involving millions of rupees was summoned by the ACE a number of times but he never showed up. Last time he was summoned by the ACE was on July 6 last but he did not bother, the sources added.

Tahir Khurshid was accused of receiving bribes through frontmen in C&W Department. He was also accused of having received money for transfers and postings of officers. Mr TK was also accused of receiving bribes in approval to government tenders for building roads.

Tahir Khurshid and C&W Chief Engineer Wasim Tariq were also blamed for receiving heavy bribes for getting approved additional funds for projects.

The ACE had arrested C&W Chief Engineer Wasim Tariq.

According to sources, Tahir Khurshid was the fourth person to get clean chit from ACE after Usman Buzdar, Farah Gogi and Shireen Mazari ever since the new provincial government took office.
