Punjab govt set to abolish medical allowance of public employees

LAHORE: Punjab Finance Department has prepared recommendations for the abolition of medical allowance for government employees.

These recommendations have been sent to the Punjab government for bringing reforms in the salary structure and pension scheme of public servants.

The department has suggested transferring the employees to health cards and insurance instead of medical allowance.

In this regard, the government would save Rs9 billion by not giving medical allowance to government employees. The government will take a final decision soon in this regard, the sources said.
