ISLAMABAD: The nationwide anti-polio vaccination campaign in Pakistan has reached more than 25 million children under the age of five, the Health Ministry said.
The campaign was launched on October 24, covering 83 districts, including high-risk districts, especially those susceptible to the polio virus, the ministry said in a statement.
Around 216,800 trained and dedicated polio workers were engaged in the vaccination drive to inoculate children under five years old at their doorsteps, the statement said.
It added that the polio virus was identified in the sewage samples in 11 districts of Pakistan.
The next national campaign will be launched on November 21 across the South Asian country, according to the ministry.
