Sarah Ahmed receives Global Collaborative Award for work in protection of children

LAHORE: Chairperson Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) Sarah Ahmed has been honored with the prestigious Global Collaborative Award in Rome, Italy by Dr. Jennifer Wortham, CEO of Global Collaborative for her valuable work in the protection of children.

According to details, an event was organized by the Global Collaborative in Rome, Italy, which was attended by leading child protection organizations from around the world whereas it was a celebration of last week announcement by the United Nations that declared November 18th as the World Day for Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse, Exploitation and Violence.

The Collaborative recognized ten individuals from across the world who are doing meaningful work for the prevention of child abuse. The honorees included CPWB Chairperson Sarah Ahmed, UNICEF Director of Child Protection, CEO of Child USA, First Lady of Sierra Leone, Professors from Harvard University, Hollywood Actor Tyler Perry and others.

Speaking to Pakistan Today from Italy, Sarah Ahmed dedicated the award to the children of Pakistan and said that receiving such a prestigious award was an honor for her and for Pakistan.

“I thank Chairman Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi for their utmost support in the cause of child protection. I have added responsibility now towards child protection and will continue to work with a greater zeal. I am grateful for the support extended to me by Chairman Imran Khan and the Punjab Government to deliver the goods,” she said.

She also added that her aim is to provide protection to all destitute and neglected children and to curb child exploitation.
