Imran condoles death of hospital donor industrialist

ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Imran Khan and Minister for Commerce Syed Naveed Qamar on Tuesday expressed sorrow over the passing away on Monday of S. M. Muneer, a prominent industrialist and a longtime donor of Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital, due to a cardiac arrest.

Muneer’s funeral was held at 1:30 pm in Karachi on Tuesday. He was 77.

“Saddened to learn of the passing of SM Muneer. He was on our [hospital] board and one of our most generous donors. My prayers [and] condolences go to the family,” tweeted Khan.

Qamar said the businessman will “always be remembered for his immense contributions to the community,” in a message received here from Johannesburg where he’s gone to attend a conference.

He said Muneer’s death was a loss to the business community and to people who knew him. He said the deceased was known for his dedication to the business community and his commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of many people.

The minister prayed to the almighty for the grant of peace to the departed soul and strength to the bereaved family to bear the loss.
