Capacity building workshop for ECP staff concludes

PESHAWAR: A first-of-its-kind capacity-building workshop for the employees of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) ahead of the installation of a result management system (RMS) during the coming general elections concluded in Peshawar, the tribunal said.

The polling station-wise regime for the elections is aimed at improving the accuracy, efficiency, and transparency of the result tabulation process.

The system was first used by returning officers (ROs) in pilot projects during by-elections in 2017 at the time of preparing unofficial results and for consolidation of election results.

The system has the capacity to store scanned pages of Forms- XIV, XVI and XVII along with data stored in the database permanently for audit trail accountability purposes.

According to a press statement released on Wednesday, Javed Afridi, joint provincial election commissioner for administration, distributed certificates among the participants.

In his address, Afridi congratulated the trainees on the completion of the programme and appreciated the cooperation of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in its conduct.

Nine such training workshops have been planned until December 31, the tribunal said.
