Pakistan, Spain strengthen ties with increased cooperation across diverse sectors

MADRID: Pakistan and Spain have agreed to increase cooperation in several areas including trade, agriculture, energy, tourism, digitalization, startups, and food processing.

The fifth round of Pakistan-Spain Annual Bilateral Consultations was held in Madrid, with Foreign Secretary Asad Majeed Khan representing Pakistan and Secretary of State for Foreign and Global Affairs, Ángeles Moreno Bau representing Spain.

The two sides discussed the need to strengthen and diversify bilateral relations and expand cooperation in the aforementioned areas.

Pakistan invited Spanish companies to invest and produce in Pakistan, and both sides addressed climate change and the importance of dealing with terrorism.

The foreign secretary also discussed India’s human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir and called for the international community to play a role in resolving the dispute.

“We had a very meaningful and productive exchange and agreed to maintain the existing positive momentum in high-level exchanges,” Khan tweeted afterwards.
