LAHORE: Senior jurist and central leader of PPP Latif Khosa termed Friday that PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz’s remarks against judges fall under contempt of court.

“Remarks of Maryam Nawaz against judges is a contempt of court and added her remarks were not justifiable against the judiciary.

While talking to a private TV channel, he viewed that Maryam’s remarks against country senior judiciary is more serious then Khan’s remakes. Her remarks clearly falls under contempt of court, he added. Latif Khosa severely criticized the PML-N and said that insulting the courts is part of the psyche of this party.

Earlier in his statement on general election date, the leader of the Pakistan People’s Party, Latif Khosa, said that the Election Act 2017 is to deal with such deadlock for the election date and to keep democracy on a smooth track. Legislators’ words matter and never lost their importance, so the consultation regarding the election should not be nominal. He hoped that the Supreme Court bench will implement the constitution. He further said the PPP stands with its commitment that it will not support anyone who goes beyond the constitution. He said that when the government has been saying that it does not have money to conduct elections then its solution can be joint elections in the country.  He advised Imran Khan to get down from the container and have a sitting with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to proceed for democracy in Pakistan. Further, he said that the PPP is not part of the Pakistan Democratic Alliance (PDM) but is allied with the government.
