ISPR: Two soldiers martyred in North Waziristan gunfight with militants

RAWALPINDI: The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that two soldiers of the Pakistan Army were martyred in a gunfight with terrorists in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan on February 26.

The martyred soldiers included Sepoy Imran Ullah and Sepoy Afzal Khan.

The terrorists’ location was effectively engaged by the security forces, resulting in the killing of two attackers and the apprehension of two others. Weapons and ammunition were also seized.

The slain militants were involved in terror activities against security forces and innocent citizens.

The military’s media wing said the troops were conducting a sanitisation operation to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the area.

The incident occurred during a period of increased terrorist activity in the country, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the end of the ceasefire by the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) with the government in November.

The Pakistan Army remains committed to eradicating terrorism and is resolute in its mission, the statement said.
