MUZAFFARABAD: The Legislative Assembly of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has unanimously rejected the unilateral and illegal Indian initiative to change the demography of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
A resolution passed on the occasion supported the right of self-determination to Kashmiris as per United Nations resolutions.
The resolution was submitted by the Leader of the House Sardar Tanvir Ilyas Khan on behalf of ,Leader of Opposition Chaudhry Latif Akbar, President Peoples Party Azad Kashmir Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin, former Prime Minister Raja Mohammad Farooq Haider Khan, President Muslim League-N Azad Kashmir Shah Ghulam Qadir, President All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference Sardar Atiq Ahmed, President of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Party Sardar Hasan Ibrahim Khan, former Prime Ministers Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan and Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazy.
Sardar Tanvir on the occasion said Kashmir is the oldest unresolved issue on the agenda of the United Nations. This session of the Legislative Assembly appreciates Pakistan’s unwavering moral, diplomatic and political support to the Kashmir cause and salutes the determination, courage and spirit of the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The Assembly rejected the unilateral and illegal actions taken by India in IIOJK since August 5, 2019, to change the demography of the occupied territory and expressed concern over the issue of fake domicile to non-Kashmiris.
The resolution said that occupied Kashmir has become the world’s largest militarized zone where India is committing serious human rights abuses including extra-judicial killings in the garb of so-called search operations and destruction of property and belongings of the citizens. The assembly members also denounced the sealing of the office of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference in Srinagar.
They strongly condemned the demolition of properties and the destruction of settlements. This House also expressed its deep concern over the continued illegal detention of Kashmiri political leaders and activists.
The resolution strongly condemned the biased statements of Indian political leaders and military officers and said that such biased statements are a threat to regional peace and stability. The meeting reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Pakistani nation to thwart any Indian aggression.
The resolution demanded of India to allow an independent investigation into human rights violations in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
