ED seeks govt nomination for permanent mission envoys to WTO, Geneva

ISLAMABAD: The Establishment Division has called on all ministries/divisions and provincial governments to submit suitable nominations for the vacant post of Ambassador for the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the World Trade Organization (WTO), Geneva. The deadline for submissions is 28th April, 2023.

In order to fill up the vacant post of Ambassador for Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the WTO, Geneva, the Establishment Division, in a circular dated 13th April, 2023, has asked the ministries/division and provincial governments, Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan to forward suitable nominations of BS-21/22 officers to Joint Secretary (T), Establishment Division, Pak Secretariat, Cabinet Block, Islamabad by 28-04-2023. Incomplete nominations and those received after due date will not be entertained, said a circular issued by the Establishment Division.

According to the Establishment Division’s circular, in order to be considered for the position, the candidate must be a serving officer in BS-21/22 and possess a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Policy, International Law, Economics, International Trade, Law (General), Management Sciences, Investment Promotion Management, Commerce or a related field.

Additionally, they should have experience in federal government, particularly in Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Commerce, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Economic Affairs Division, Federal Board of Revenue, Board of Investment, Privatization Commission, Ministry of National Food Security & Research, Finance Division, Ministry of Industries and Production, Chief Minister’s Offices, Provincial Department of Finance, Revenue, Planning & Development, Agriculture, Commerce, Investment and Industries, or any related field.

The candidate must be under 56 years of age on the closing date of submission of the application and have no disciplinary/criminal proceedings pending against them. The nominee should not have served in any mission abroad for the last three years and must provide certificates of disclosure regarding their previous postings abroad.

Interested officers must provide a C.V showing personal data with photographs, giving details of their experience and educational qualifications. They must also provide a certificate from their parent ministries/divisions/departments stating that there are no disciplinary/criminal proceedings pending against them and that the officer is not a beneficiary of plea bargain or NRO.

A certificate from relevant ministries/divisions/departments stating that the officer has never been recalled from a foreign post by the Government of Pakistan/parent department, previously on account of poor performance must also be provided.

PERs grading for the last 05 years in case of applicants of BS-21 shall be provided by the shortlisted candidates. The Establishment Division has warned that incomplete nominations or those received after the due date will not be entertained. Applications will only be considered when received through their parent/administrative departments/division within due date, complete in all respects along with documents specified above.

The Establishment Division’s circular invited suitable BS-21/22 officers to apply for the post and has asked all relevant authorities to ensure that the nominations are complete and submitted within the stipulated time frame.
