Over 100 FBR officers apply for leave for not raising salary/allowances

Islamabad: Over 100 officers of Inland Revenue Service (IRS) Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) working in different field formations have applied for almost 52 days leave together for not raising salary as well as other allowances.

Leave applications written by Assistant Commissioners, Deputy Commissioner or additional DC ranks officers asked their high ups to approve leave from May 8, 2023 to June 30, 2023 citing the reason for the extremely low salary.

According to one IRS officer, “I am writing this application to highlight a pressing matter that has prompted me to apply for leave of absence from work from 08.05.2023 to 30.06.2023.

Over the past few months, with the sky-rocketing inflation. I have been unable to make ends meet with the amount of salary that I earn, he further mentioned that I have been living hand to mouth and the amount of low salary barely fulfills the basic needs of my family which is a cause of continuous financial stress and mental health issues for me.

“I have highlighted this issue to my worthy seniors many times but to no avail, Adding insult to injury. I have not been provided any other perquisite like fuel. accommodation, transportation which is being provided to my fellow batchmates from other services”.

Moreover. recently executive allowance @I50% of the basic salary was granted to the employees of other cadres while the employees of IRS were deprived once again.

Nevertheless, I still remained committed to my duties and fulfilled my responsibilities sincerely to the best of my abilities as the top leadership had promised the implementation of Common pool Fund (CPF) from 1″ March 2023 but that promise too has not been fulfilled to date.

The low salary, lack of basic perquisites, denial of Executive allowance 150% of the basic salary and / or de-freezing of UP, the unfulfilled promise of the implementation of CPI’.

Delay in rewards and promotions has resulted in significant financial issues for me, which has affected my overall well-being as well as motivation in the workplace.

It is essential for me to take some time off to address this matter and explore potential solutions that would ensure a fair and reasonable compensation for my contributions.

In the light of aforementioned issues, I won’t be able to attend the office from 08.05.2023 to 30.06.2023, he informed his Commissioner.
