ISLAMABAD: The Federal government on Wednesday posted BS-22 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) Imdadullah Bosal as Special Secretary Finance as the

Notification states that Imdadullah Bosal, a BS-22 officer of PAS presently posted as OSD in Establishment division is transferred and posted a special Secretary Finance division on the newly created post with immediate effect and until further orders.

Imdadullah bosa was working as Additional Secretary Finance division in Imran Khan tenure but he is considered very close to Shahbaz Sharif as his real brother elected as member National Assembly on Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz ticket.

Bosal’s last posting was Chief Secretary KP but he was asked to report to the Establishment division from KP after a few days on his own request, sources added.

He holds a master’s degree in Political Economy of Development from School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. He also holds a master’s degree in Public Policy from University of Oxford.

Sources said that Finance minister Ishaq Dar and Finance Secretary Hamid Yaqoob Shiekh are at odds on some issues due to which the Finance Secretary does not want to serve anymore in the Finance division.

Secretary Finance has also applied for leave to visit abroad but the government did not approve his leave application so far, sources added. It is pertinent to note that Awais Sumra is also working  as Special Secretary Finance division.

Sources said that the government will elevate Imdadullah Bosal for Secretary Finance in coming days due to his closeness with the PM as well as Secretary to PM.

It is worth mentioning here that the ninth review of Pakistan’ economy under the EFF program is still not finalized as the global lender is asking for more assurances to bridge the $6 billion external finance gap.
