LDA cracks down on land-mafia, seizes millions worth of properties

LAHORE: The officials from the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) conducted a successful operation, reclaiming valuable assets worth millions of rupees from the clutches of the mafia whereas the operation targeted petrol pump sites and shops that had been unlawfully occupied and neglected by the mafia, Profit learnt here on Saturday.

The spokesperson of LDA informed this scribe that the LDA officials, supported by a dedicated team, executed the operation with precision and efficiency.

“Their primary focus was a three-canal plot housing a petrol pump site in Main College Road Township. This particular property had been leased out but suffered from persistent non-payment of dues. The LDA seized the site and repossessed it, ending the mafia’s unlawful hold over the valuable piece of land”.

“This petrol pump site had long been embroiled in legal battles due to continuous defaulting on lease payments. However, acting upon the directives issued by the Lahore High Court, the LDA teams took decisive action, executing the operation to restore the property to its rightful status,” he said.

The spokesperson further informed that the LDA teams also targeted 14 shops located in close proximity to the Walton Road Packages Mall.

“These shops had fallen into the hands of unauthorized occupants who had illegally seized the premises. By reclaiming and subsequently selling the shops, the LDA regained control over the properties, effectively ending the unlawful occupation. The seized shops had been a subject of prolonged illegal occupancy, causing significant financial losses and hindering lawful business activities. The operation carried out by the LDA aimed to curtail such illicit practices and enforce the rule of law,” he added.
