LAHORE: The Anti-Terrorism Court Lahore on Thursday extended PTI leader Asad Umar’s interim bail till June 13 in a case pertaining to vandalism at Lahore’s Askari Tower.
Accepting Umar’s bail plea against surety bonds worth Rs100,000, the court ordered him to join the investigation.
During the hearing presided by Judge Ejaz Ahmad Buttar Umar’s counsel told the court that on the date of the incident mentioned in the case, his client was in Islamabad and had no involvement in the alleged offence.
In a short interaction with reporters, referring to a recent press conference by ex-PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry, Umar clarified he was “not active in what Fawad is doing”.
Asad Qaiser moves IHC to stop arrest under MPO3
Meanwhile, PTI leader Asad Qaiser has approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking details of any case registered against him under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) ordinance.
In his plea he has asked the IHC to direct the Islamabad district commissioner to provide details on any such cases if they are filed against him and also asked for the grounds to be provided.
The former NA deputy speaker has also requested the IHC to stop the Islamabad police from arresting him under the MPO (3) ordinance.
Lamenting that thousands of workers across the country were booked in “fake cases”, Qaiser also mentions in the petition that he is booked under two cases and is on interim bail in both.
