KP minister calls for quick completion of Pehur High Level Canal Extension project

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa caretaker Provincial Minister for Irrigation Haji Fazal Elahi has said that steps should be taken to complete the Pehur High Level Canal Extension Project soon so that farmers can be assured of water supply for farming, bring maximum area under cultivation to benefit local population from it.  The improvement of the irrigation system in the province is among the top priorities.

He expressed these views during his visit to Swabi to review the Pehur High Level Canal Extension Project. 

 During the visit, the caretaker Provincial Minister for Irrigation Haji Fazal Elahi inspected the ongoing work at various places including Chota Lahore of Pehur High Level Canal and expressed his satisfaction over the quality of work.

 Meanwhile, the caretaker provincial minister for irrigation Haji Fazl Elahi visited the project directorate of Pehur High Level Canal Extension Project where the project director Sardar Zafar along with the staff welcomed the caretaker provincial minister.  

The project director informed the Provincial Minister Irrigation Haji Fazal Elahi about the cost, utility, progress and problems faced by the Pehore High Canal Extension Project and was told that a total of 22 thousand acres of land will be irrigated from this project, while in the future project can irrigate Thirty thousand acres of land. The total length of the canal is 79 km. The estimated cost is 14938 million. The project will be completed by December 2024.  About 81 percent of the work on Lot 1 of the project has been completed.  Mian Dheri area will be irrigated from Lot 2. 16300 acres area will be irrigated from Lot 3.  About 75 percent of the work has been completed in lot three.  Shah Mansoor, Jhangi Dher, Panj Pir, Kunda Meera, Lahore, Jalsai and Anbar areas of Nowshera and Swabi will benefit from the project. 

 Later, Provincial Minister for irrigation Haji Fazal Elahi along with Project Director Sardar Zafar inspected the ongoing work at various places on the Pehur High Level Canal Extension Project. 

 Besides, Provincial Irrigation Minister Haji Fazal Elahi visited the Swabi Irrigation Division office where he reviewed the construction work of the newly built mosque.
