Punjab police chief meets family of deceased PTI fan, assures support

LAHORE: The head of Punjab police, Usman Anwar, held a meeting with the family of Ali Bilal alias Zill-i-Shah, a mentally challenged but passionate supporter of former prime minister Imran Khan, who tragically lost his life during a protest near Zaman Park neighbourhood in Lahore.

During the meeting, Anwar met with Shah’s mother and brothers, assuring them of the police’s full support in the case. He also pledged medical and educational assistance to the deceased’s children, emphasising that the family would not be left alone under any circumstances.

It was reported that Shah was apprehended by the police during the protest outside Zaman Park but was later released. The investigation report claimed that Shah was struck by a speeding car while walking in the middle of the road. Despite being rushed to Services Hospital, he could not be saved.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) claimed that Shah was “murdered in broad daylight” and then left at Services Hospital. The post-mortem report, according to the opposition party, indicated that he had suffered severe torture.

The tragic incident has drawn significant attention, and the police chief’s meeting with Shah’s family aims to demonstrate support and provide reassurance during this difficult time.
