Karachi police thwart smuggling bid of dead chickens

KARACHI: In a successful operation, Karachi police intercepted a vehicle at the Somar Goth check post on Tuesday, preventing the delivery of dead chickens to a local hotel.

The Steel Town police promptly took action, seizing the vehicle and discovering over 200 stomach-filled dead chickens intended for supply to the hotel. A police spokesman confirmed that the driver, identified as Rizwan, was arrested for his involvement in the illegal transportation of deceased poultry.

A case has been registered against the suspect under sections 270 and 269 of the law.

Upon inspection, authorities found that the vehicle contained more than 200 decaying chickens exhibiting severe contamination.

During the investigation, the suspect, Rizwan, admitted to delivering the dead chickens to the hotel. He also mentioned another company as the intended recipient of the contaminated poultry.

The police have confiscated the vehicle and initiated a further investigation with the inspection team leading the efforts.
