Iran deports 35 ‘illegal’ Pakistan immigrants

CHAGAI: Iranian border officials have deported an additional 35 immigrants from Pakistan who illegally entered the neighbouring country.

Pakistan’s border authorities have handed over the deported individuals to the anti-human trafficking cell of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

According to the border officials, the deportees had planned to illegally immigrate to European countries through Iran.

Many individuals from Pakistan have been crossing into Iran with the aim of illegally migrating to Europe in search of better opportunities.

The issue of illegal immigration has gained global attention following a recent incident where a boat carrying several Pakistan nationals sank near the coast of Greece, resulting in reported deaths.

Tragically, at least 78 people drowned when the ill-fated boat, reportedly carrying 400 to 750 individuals, capsized in the Mediterranean Sea near the Greek coast.
