KARACHI: In an effort to aid the homeless victims of floods, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari distributed ownership rights certificates to 5,000 flood victims in the Larkana district of Sindh.
This initiative marks the first phase of the project, which aims to provide ownership rights to thousands of displaced families affected by the devastating floods in the region.
During the event held in Larkana, the foreign minister addressed the audience, emphasizing the commitment of the provincial government to support the flood victims. The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is extending financial assistance to these affected families to facilitate the reconstruction of their homes.
Notably, the newly constructed houses are designed to ensure a higher level of safety in the event of future floods, providing a more secure living environment for the affected communities.
One remarkable aspect of the project is that it grants house ownership rights as a financial asset to every woman belonging to a displaced flood-affected family. This empowering step seeks to provide long-term security and stability for these families, allowing them to rebuild their lives after the devastation caused by the natural disaster.
Looking forward, Zardari said the initiative aims to distribute over 2.1 million houses to flood-affected families in the broader Sindh region. This ambitious plan demonstrates the government’s commitment to effectively address the housing needs of those who have suffered from the floods, providing them with essential shelter and ownership rights.
As part of the visit to the region, the chairman of the PPP also inspected the houses constructed under the Sindh People’s Housing Project in the flood-affected village of Vikya Sangi in Larkana District.
This on-site inspection allowed him to assess the progress of the project and witness firsthand the positive impact on the lives of the flood victims.
