AAJM Srinagar pays rich tributes to Imam Hussain, Karbala martyrs

SRINAGAR: The Anjuman Auqaf of Jamia Masjid (AAJM) Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, on behalf of its head Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who is under house detention since August 5 2019, has paid glowing tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the beloved grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), and his companions for their great and historic sacrifices in Karbala.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Anjuman in a statement in Srinagar said Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) by refusing to surrender before tyrants (falsehood) set an example which acts as torchbearer for those striving for truth, till the Day of Judgement. The exemplary sacrifices of the Martyrs of Karbala will always guide the Muslims as the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) in the scorching desert of Karbala is a glorious chapter in the history of Islam and humanity, it added.

The Anjuman also said that was a tradition since centuries of the Mirwaizeen to visit Alam Sahib shrine in Narwara and highlight the significance of Muharramul Haram and pay tribute to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and other martyrs of Karbala. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq too used to visit the shrine and throw light on Ashura but due to his continued illegal house detention, all this could not be possible this year as well, the Anjuman said.

Meanwhile, Anjuman also condemned the occupation authorities for disallowing the Mirwaiz the Juma prayers on the 205th consecutive Friday, today, it maintained that not releasing the Mirwaiz despite the demand by the people, religious, political and social circles, and civil society, is a tragedy, and also a challenge for the champions of justice and democracy.
