KP to conduct anti-polio vaccination drive from August 7

PESHAWAR: The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced a polio vaccination drive that will be conducted from August 7 to 10 in selected districts of the province.

During the drive, over 2.72 million eligible children under the age of five will be vaccinated against polio. The drive will be conducted in eight complete and nine partial districts of the province.

In districts Peshawar and Khyber, fractional doses of Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV) will also be administered to children aged four to 59 months.

The EOC has deployed a total of 6,947 teams of trained polio workers to implement the drive. These teams will visit homes and other places where children are likely to be found to administer polio drops.

In order to ensure the security of the polio teams, 18,474 security personnel have been deployed in the target areas.

The EOC has appealed to all parents and caregivers to ensure that their children are vaccinated during the drive. They have also urged the media to play a role in spreading awareness about the importance of polio vaccination.
