Pakistan honours overseas Chinese for commitment to shared prosperity through CPEC

ISLAMABAD: Government of Pakistani has honoured overseas Chinese citizens for their commitment to shared prosperity through China, Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

In a remarkable commendation ceremony for the contributors to the shared prosperity through CPEC held here as one of the series of celebrations to mark the 10th anniversary of CPEC.

On this occasion, the Pakistani government extended its gratitude and recognition to the overseas Chinese for their unwavering commitments to CPEC project.

The event, attended by high-ranking officials from both countries, highlighted the significant contribution made by the overseas Chinese in Pakistan towards fostering shared prosperity and strengthening bilateral ties.

Prime Minster Shehbaz Sharif appreciated Lahore Overseas Chinese Association (LOCA) for its commitment to shared prosperity through CPEC, according to a report published by Gwadar Pro on Thursday.

He pointed put that over the past decade, CPEC has made such tremendous achievements, which not only promoted the socio-economic development of Pakistan and created a large number of jobs, but also further enhanced the ‘iron iron’ friendship between China and Pakistan, and is a “game changer” in Pakistan and South Asia.

Appreciating the Chinese government and Chinese enterprises for their investment and unwavering support to Pakistan, Shehbaz maintained that the Pakistani government would extend full support for the high-quality development of CPEC to better benefit the people of both countries.

Pang Chunxue, the Charge d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, noted that the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan will continue to work with all walks of life in Pakistan to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, continuously promote high-quality development of CPEC and strive to build a closer China-Pakistan community of shared future in the new era.

A total of 29 Chinese and Pakistani enterprises and institutions were honoured on the occasion. Luo Jianxue, President of Lahore Overseas Chinese Association (LOCA), was presented an award by Shehbaz to honour the association’s commitment towards shared prosperity through CPEC.

“Through cooperation with Chinese and Pakistani enterprises and institutions, LOCA will always promote the development of bilateral trade, investment and infrastructure construction, bringing more opportunities and exact benefits to the two economies,” Luo concluded.
