FIA accelerates crackdown on currency smugglers

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency has accelerated its crackdown against the smuggling of foreign currency on Thursday.

The Peshawar zone ranks first in the crackdown against Hawala/Hundi.

During the last 20 days, as many as 27 actions have been taken against the Hundi references.

During the crackdown, the FIA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa zone arrested 28 accused and recovered more than Rs102 million from the accused.

The FIA took the mobile phones of the accused and sent them for forensics.

Cases were registered against all the accused under currency smuggling.

The investigators are expecting to unearth more networks during the investigation.
