Swat Police seize huge cache of weapons, ammunition hide underground

SWAT: The police claimed to have thwarted a sabotage attempt and recovered a huge cache of ammunition and weapons including suicide jacket and rocket launchers hidden underground.

Swat District Police Officer (DPO) Shafiullah Khan Gandapur, while addressing a press conference along with SP Upper Swat Muhammad Zaman and other police officers at Mingora police station, said that the huge cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered during a joint search and strike operation conducted by the police, CTD and security forces in the Malam Jabba police station precincts.

The weapon and ammunition include a suicide jacket, 10 hand grenades, one rocket launcher, three rocket launcher shells, 11 rocket launcher boosters, 71 detonators (non-electric), eight test light wires, three rocket launcher heads (empty shells), one rifle snapper, 500 ball bearings and large quantity of cartridges.

“The weapons and ammunition were hidden underground for subversive activities at Qadirabad (Ser) in Malam Jabba police station precincts”, he added.

“The terrorists had hidden the weapons and ammunition underground for mass destruction but the police foiled their plan,” said the DPO, adding that after the recovery, search and clear operation is continued in the area. He said the police have also launched investigation modern scientific methods to reach the accused and their facilitators.

DPO Gandapur said that the police have foiled the attempt to disrupt peace and sabotage tourism. “We want to convey a message to the tourists that there is complete peace in Swat and the tourists should not hesitate to visit this scenic valley,” he declared.

UoS, The Awakening Organization sign MoU

An MoU was signed between University of Swat (UoS) and The Awakening Organization for collaborative education and research.

According to details, University of Swat and The Awakening Organization, a prominent society for social and cultural development, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to foster cooperative education, research, and development activities in areas of common interest. UoS Registrar Imtiaz Ali signed the MoU on behalf of the university at a ceremony attended by esteemed faculty members, staff, and representatives from both organizations

Prof Dr Hassan Sher, Vice Chancellor of the University of Swat, commended the collaborative spirit of the partnership. “We believe that cooperation between academic institutions and organizations with a social mission is crucial for addressing the challenges our society faces. This MOU reflects our commitment to achieving positive outcomes for our students and the wider community,” he stated
