Islamabad Police allegedly kidnap Custom Inspector over confiscating NCP vehicle

RAWALPINDI: Islamabad Police allegedly kidnaped Custom Inspector and five other staffers over confiscating Non-Customs Paid (NCP) vehicles used by DSP.

Sources said that staff of Customs Collectorate Islamabad had attempted to confiscate NCP vehicles used by a DSP Islamabad Police near G9 signal.

Upon which, DSP Najeeb Shah directed the Karachi Company Police SHO to reach the spot immediately.

Sources said that Islamabad Police not only kidnapped the Customs car cell inspector and other staff but also beat them mercilessly.

They informed that the capital police ‘reportedly’ detained two citizens for filming the spat between Islamabad police and Customs staffers.

It is pertinent to mention here that DSP, who has the NCP vehicles, is the PSO to the IG Islamabad Police.

The sources recalled that the Islamabad police and Pakistan Customs had a meeting a few months ago for devise a mechanism for conducting joint operations to confiscate NCP vehicles.

The scribe attempted to seek comment from the IG Islamabad police as well as spokesperson or DSP Najeeb Shah about the episode but no reply received till filing of story.

The Islamabad Police spokesperson, however, said that the DIG headquarters was investigating the matter and the DSP concerned had been removed from the position till finalization of report.
