PTI: ECP Sindh ‘playing Ping Pong’ over Nov 12 Jalsa

  • Omar Ayub says wrote to commission on Oct 16, 2023 for permission for holding Nov 12, Jalsa
  • Condemns police raid on Farina Aamer’s home, arrest of her husband

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan has said that Elections Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Sindh is simply playing ping pong, as PTI Karachi wrote to the electoral watchdog Sind on October 16, 2023 for granting permission for holding a Jalsa on November 12, 2023 but not providing a level playing field to PTI.

In a statement on Tuesday, the PTI Secretary General said that the ECP did not provide a level playing field to PTI. He went on to say that ECP Sind has sat on the letter for more than three weeks and has written to the Sindh Chief Secretary on November 4, 2023.

“This is an open and shut case of blatant partisanship by the ECP. ECP Sind is simply playing ping pong,” he said, adding, “It appears that ECP is openly engaged in pre poll rigging by not providing a level playing field to PTI.”

Omar contended that ECP Sind should publicly give a solid reason for not forwarding PTI Sind’s letter to the government of Sind for granting permission for a Jalsa on November 12 to PTI. He made it clear that one country and two systems was not acceptable.

Meanwhile, he strongly condemned the police raid on Farina Aamer, PTIs recently notified District General Secretary Lahore Women Wing held her first meeting yesterday with the PTI District organization.

“Last night, Punjab Police raided her house, harassed the family and took away her husband illegally to an unknown location,” he added. Omar said that a moving video of her children wherein they could be seen crying whilst their innocent father was being taken away illegally.

“Will the Judiciary take notice or do we have to wait for the time when judges are picked up in the middle of the night by the Police and taken to unknown locations for the Judiciary to stir from its deep slumber,” PTI SG asked.

He raised question is this the ‘Level Playing Field’ PML-N wants for it to contest in February 8, 2024 general election?

“Does PML-N think that by arresting innocent men and women it will gain support,” he asked. Then why did PML-N delete its survey from its own Twitter/X handle that showed PTI at 81% and PML-N at 16%, Omar questioned. He stated that PML-N should realize that it has lost even before the electoral campaign has started.
