Teachers’ plight

Every now and then, the community of school teachers in Punjab has to undergo mental torture on one count or the other. Recently, it was proposed that public schools be privatised, and changes be made in the rules and regulations related to leave encashment and pension. The teachers have spent their whole life pinning their hopes on the retirement assets. In a country where high inflation has already crippled the lives of the salaried class, such amendments only aggravate the misery.
