KARTARPUR: While the creation of two states India and Pakistan in 1947 marked the fulfillment of a longstanding demand of the Muslims of the sub-continent for a separate homeland, at the same time, it resulted in the separation of hundreds of families, especially Muslims, who either shifted to Pakistan or preferred to stay back in India, reported on Sunday.
In one such instance, two brothers, who had got separated at the time of partition of the sub-continent in 1947, finally reunited with each other along with their families at Kartarpur, Narowal after a gap of 76 years.
After the partition, Bashir Masih had come to Faisalabad while his brother Sabah Masih stayed back in India.
Members of both the families hugged each other, garlanded each other and talked a lot.
They, on the occasion, thanked the government of Pakistan for building the Kartarpur Corridor.
