KARACHI: An over speeding car driven by a drunk police official crushed a motorcyclist to death besides leaving another injured. The driven responsible for accident was held.
According to details, the accident took place in Gulshan-e-Iqbal at Rashid Minhas road where a Toyota Corolla bearing registration number ABD-007 ran over a bike carrying two people.
As a result of accident, 60-year-old Bashir Ahmed Siddiqui stated to be an eggs supplier by profession and father of four children, hailing from Federal ‘B’ Area was killed while Abdul Karim 60, sustained injuries.
The citizens foiled the attempt of car driver and his accomplice to flee from scene, held them and handed them over to Yousaf Plaza Police.
Eye witnesses said that the two car riders including a police official were drunk at time of the accident.
When police came to known that the detainee was their counterpart, the instead of treating him as accused started giving him special protocol and avoided to give any information to media.
The body and injured were shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities.
