KARACHI: The website of the aviation ministry was attacked thrice in a span of 24 hours, making it inactive again. A spokesperson for the ministry on Wednesday said important information had disappeared from the website after the cyber-attacks.
It should be noted that hackers had gained access to the aviation ministry website a day earlier as well but it was restored soon. However, the hackers have struck again, gaining access to the website once more.
In 2022, cyber experts said that the data of all government and private websites that had been hacked during the last one year was available on the dark web. They were of the view that cyber security in Pakistan was not up to the mark.
When contacted, Lahore’s Garrison University Forensic Research and Services Centre Director Kokab Zuberi explained to The Express Tribune what the dark web actually was. “The dark web is part of internet that requires special software to access. It is a world of crime which is out of reach of even the law enforcement agencies,” he added.
Zuberi said that the websites on dark web are not visible on Google searches. “People on dark web are also involved in money laundering, trade of stolen credentials, child pornography and the buying and selling of scamming devices via which bank account data can be hacked,” he added.
